Mental Health Awareness Week (November 10- November 13) will include a series of webinars that will dedicate time to mental health and mental illness awareness. 43.8 million adults experience mental illness each year; this is equal to 1 in 5 adults in America experience a mental illness, 1 in 25 adults live with a serious mental illness, and one-half of all chronic mental illnesses begin by the age of 14. Often because of stigma, only half of those affected receive treatment; untreated, mental illness can contribute to higher medical expenses, poorer performance at school and work, fewer employment opportunities, and increased risk of suicide. Please join the SFLHIMSS Chapter at these important webinars to raise awareness for mental health and mental illness.
