Moderator - Paul Salmon 

Mr. Salmon is SVP Enterprise Program Delivery, Vendor Management at Pediatric Associates, South Florida.  Mr. Salmon has a track record of success in leveraging technology, data, and people to build high-performing innovative teams for growth and operational excellence. Mr. Salmon created a scalable operating model and processes for acquisition integration and EHR migrations.  He is a data-driven leader focused on process improvement and growth through maturity models.

Panelist - Patrick Murta

Mr. Murta is Chief Platform Architect at BehaVR, a leading VR wellness and digital therapeutics company with a behavioral health focus. In this role, he leads the evolution of the BehaVR platform forward with a patient-centric, contextualized, dynamic, integrated, and interoperable perspective.

Patrick comes to BehaVR from Humana, where he spent 23 years providing leading healthcare solutions. Most recently at Humana, he served as Chief Interoperability Architect and Fellow. In that role, he provided strategy, architecture, and products to achieve integrated care delivery. Patrick is a frequent speaker and provides thought leadership in the industry. He has served as co-chief architect of the Federal Office of the National Coordinator’s FHIR at Scale Task Force (FAST), as a leader of the Da Vinci operating committee and architecture team. He is a co-inventor on two patents related to healthcare business rules management and integrating clinical insights in EHR workflow. His passion is using contemporary technology approaches to optimize experiences and help patients achieve optimal wellness. 

Patrick's experience extends to the original HIPAA X12 implementations. He has designed and implemented enterprise EDI transaction gateways, enterprise HIEs, utilization and case management platforms, business rules management systems for case and utilization management, predictive models for member health and safety, and bi-directional payer and EHR integration.

Over the years, Patrick has architected and helped implement leading healthcare solutions, including a CIO 100 award winner in 2020. He recently co-authored an interoperability implementation guide, expected to be approved for trial use in 2022.

Panelist - Michael Shen  

Dr. Shen is the founder and Chief Medical Officer for Duxlink Health.  He is a practicing cardiologist with 4 board certifications.  He is an expert in Health Information Technology (HIT), Electronic Health Records (EHR), and utilization analytics.  Dr. Shen owns 8 patents in analytical methods.

Panelist - Ganesh Persad

Ganesh Persad has over 10 years of experience in Healthcare IT and a member of HIMSS for most of his professional career. Currently, he is the Manager of Clinical Systems & Interoperability at Memorial Healthcare System. Ganesh serves as the technical architect who manages various health information exchange and interoperability platforms and the health systems Epic Connect program with a focus on delivering clinically relevant data at the point of care to align with Memorial Healthcare Systems Population Health initiatives and to facilitate the organization Value-Based Care initiatives through the use of technology taking a holistic approach as a health IT evangelist, driving consensus building among teams and acts as a transformational leader to his organization focusing on collaboration, innovation optimization and adhering to industry best practices.

Ganesh received his Bachelor’s in Health Information Management degree from Rutgers University. Ganesh completed his Master of Science in Biomedical Informatics from Nova Southeastern University and graduated with High Honors and received the 2018 Chancellor’s Award for the Biomedical Informatics program, for demonstrating the characteristics of scholarship, leadership, integrity, humanity, and loyalty to the profession.

Ganesh previously served as the South Florida HIMSS Chapter Secretary, collaborating with other board members to plan and evaluate various education and chapter events to grow and foster the chapters’ mission and vision. Additionally, Ganesh has served a two-year term as the Chair for the Florida Health Information Exchange and leads the Epic Interoperability Regional User Group partnering with healthcare organizations across the state to promote interoperability at the Federal, State, and Local levels.
