On Monday June 8th please Join South Florida HIMSS Chapter and Dr. Gary D. Cravens for an overview of Machine Learning in Healthcare.

Due to advances in hardware/software and the dramatic increase in the availability of healthcare data in electronic form, data analytics is increasingly using machine learning techniques to discover actionable information from the data. This presentation will provide an overview of the commonly used techniques of machine learning in this area. In addition, examples of the use of machine learning in healthcare will be presented. There will be time for questions during and after the presentation.

 

About Gary D. Cravens:

Gary D. Cravens is Assistant Professor of Biomedical Informatics at the NSU Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine. He has an M.D. degree from Indiana University School of Medicine and completed a medicine internship at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and a surgery internship at Mayo Clinic. He also has M.S. degrees in computer science, physics, physiology, and health informatics (all from Indiana University). He has many years of experience working in the areas of software development, software project management, and health informatics in the federal government and industry. His research interests are focused on mathematical and computational neuroscience, specifically on seizure prediction in epilepsy patients.
